 WOW Shoot Out 16-20 Sept Philippines 2007

To celebrate the splendour of underwater Philippines, the Department of Tourism and OceanNEnvironment invite you to participate in the WOW Shoot-Out Competition 16 to 21 Sept 2007. Held in conjunction with Celebrate the Sea Festival 2007 Philippines, you will be diving some of the most beautiful and enchanting reefs system.  Joining the panel of speakers & media  jury team, you will discover the splendour of underwater Philippines - situated in the coral triangle, the biodiversity of the dive sites are the richest in the world. Oceanic walls, soft coral canyons, wrecks to intriguing muck dive locations offer unparalleled photographic opportunities.  Attractive packages are offered by a select few premier resorts and live-aboard.

By submitting your images from the shoot out, you will be competing for one of these prestigious titles:

 The WOW Award – for the most outstanding image

The Hi Five Award – for the highest scoring or the most well balance portfolio

The Quick Draw Award – for the best action shot

Yes, there will be medals, equipment and holiday prizes  for the shoot out winners but the aim is also to challenge for the ‘President Grand Award of Highest Achievement 2007’ with a US$2000 prize money.

How to Compete:

1.   Sign up for a Shoot-Out Package (16 to 21 Sept) offered by one of the supporting operators; dive and shoot from 16 to     21 Sep; you may be shooting along side some of the speakers and judging team…remember to buy them drinks! –   kidding. - Download application form

2.   Make your way to ‘Celebrate the Sea Festival’ 21-23 Sep, Manila on 21 Sep and submit your entries to the   photographic officer by 1600 hrs.

3.   You will receive a free master pass (value at USD60) which entitle you to attend the opening ceremony, seminars, international film festival and exhibition.

4.   On evening of 22 Sep attend the award ceremony – you have to be there to win!

5.   For international participant, we also be offering you special accommodation package at the festival official hotel in Manila for the weekend of 21 -23 Sep.

Competition Guidelines

6.    Any one above the age 12 may compete; images must be captured between 16 to 21 Sept and you must be staying and diving with designated resorts/boat. Proof of stay is required to submit entry.

7.    Submission must be digital origin;  prosumer and DSLR camera – minimum 3 megapixel. Submit a portfolio of 5 images; full size tiff or hi-res jpeg (full size) – do not submit Raw file

8.    EXIF / Metadata file must be intact – this is very important and will lead to disqualification of entry.

9.    Digital editing is limited to cropping, levels, contrast adjustment and sharpening. The judges reserve the right to view original or RAW files.

10.   Participant must first register to compete with the competition application form and submission must be made personally to the photographic officer at the official venue of Celebrate the Sea 2007 in Manila between 1300 to 1600 hrs (1pm to 4pm)

11.   All entries must be made on official registration form with a Competitor ID / entry number.

12.   Competitors agree to the use of their works by the organisers for the promotion of future Festivals. Winning work may be shown to the public at future Festivals. At each use of the works the name of the author will be mentioned but no payment for use of the copyright or retribution of any kind will be possible. No commercial use of the images will be made by the organizers of the Festival. All individuals wishing to purchase any of the works will be put in contact with the producers and/or authors.

13.   The decisions of the jury are final. Participation in this contest entails acceptance of the above regulations.
