‘Heroes of the Seas’ at Celebrate the Sea 2006
The board of directors of OceanNEnvironment Australia is proud to announce the first three recipients of the ‘Hero of the Seas’ award to Neville Coleman, Ronald Taylor and Valerie Taylor. The honor ‘Hero of the Seas’ is bestowed to individuals and organizations each year in the Asia Pacific and around the world and is presented in conjunction with the annual Celebrate the Sea Imagery Festival. The award honours those that have contributed to discovery of marine science and their unselfish, tireless efforts to preserve and protect our ocean planet. The inaugural awards for Neville Coleman, Ronald and Valerie Taylor is in recognition of their lifetime of achievements and their enthusiasm and passion through which they have inspired and motivated others to appreciate and learn more of marine life. Their work has also inspired many to become involved with conservation of sharks and other marine critters. “We are at a pivotal point in preserving the health of our seas … we need recognize heroes such as Neville Coleman, Ronald and Valerie Taylor who have dedicated their entire life to education, research and promoting the necessity of protecting and preserving our ocean environment”, said Michael AW, Chair of OceanNEnvironment Australia. OceanNEnvironment is a registered charity with Environment Australia operating throughout the Asia-Pacific realm. The organisation is dedicated to the protection of natural environs through education and meaningful research. The mission of OceanNEnvironment is not only to promote preservation but also to document the status of coral reefs, bio-diversity and the impact of man-made pollution through research programs and educational expeditions.
